Ingredients

  • 1 white onion, sliced into rings about 1/2 cm thick
  • 40 g grated parmesan
  • Olive oil spray
  • Optional: garlic powder, salt and black pepper, or whatever spices you like

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 200°C / 400°F and line a sheet pan with parchment.
  2. Spread the parmesan over the parchment in an even layer.
  3. Separate the onion slices into rings and lay them on top of the cheese in a single layer.
  4. Season the rings, then give everything a light spray of olive oil.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, watching closely at the end so the edges go golden without burning.
  6. Lift the chips off the pan and let them cool for a few minutes. The cheese crisps as it sets.

Notes

The cheese goes under the onion, not on top, so each ring lifts off with its own parmesan crisp attached. Good with a yogurt or ranch dip.
